According to initial reports from Hong Kong authorities, an AirACT cargo 747 veered off the runway while landing, striking a ground vehicle and going over the sea wall. The aircraft came to rest in the water with its tail detached. The accident happened at 19:53 UTC on 19 October (03:53 local time, 20 Oct). According to police one of the ground vehicle occupants has died and the other has been taken to the hospital. The aircraft’s crew of four was able to evacuate the aircraft. Finnair is canceling flights operated by a subset of its A320 family fleet this week for additional inspections. The problem? The seats are clean.Specifically, Finnair says that eight of its 15 Airbus A321s require inspections because the seat covers on board were cleaned with water. The airline was informed by the seat manufacturer that the impact on the fire protection properties of the seat covers has not been properly verified when the seats are washed with water. Air Niugini (PX/ANG) made history by adding its first state-of-the-art Airbus A220-300 to its fleet, which arrived in Port Moresby brand new from the Airbus factory in Montréal on a long delivery flight that lasted four days. On the evening of October 1, two Endeavor Air CRJ-900s operating for Delta Connection collided during low speed taxiing at New York’s La Guardia Airport just before 22:00 local time. Thankfully, only one minor injury was reported by a flight attendant on EDV5155. EDV5047 was taxiing to the gate after landing at La Guardia (LGA) from Charlotte, while EDV5155 was taxiing to the runway for departure to Roanoke.
