French aerospace manufacturer Airbus has awarded a contract to an Indian firm for the production of all doors for its A220 family of narrow-body aircraft, marking a significant stride in bolstering the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
The announcement was made at a function attended by Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and others on Thursday.
While financial specifics remain undisclosed, Bengaluru-based Dynamatic Technologies secured the contract, leveraging its existing expertise in manufacturing the Flap Track Beam for Airbus A330 and A320 Family aircraft.
This landmark deal stands as one of the largest export contracts for an Indian aerospace manufacturing entity, marking the second such contract awarded by Airbus to an Indian supplier.
Notably, in March 2023, Airbus awarded a contract to Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. (TASL) to manufacture cargo and bulk cargo doors of the A320neo aircraft family.
TASL will produce these doors at a new facility in Hyderabad using cutting-edge robotics and automation technology.
In addition, Airbus will build the C295 military aircraft final assembly line (FAL) with TASL in Gujarat, the first concrete, large-scale Make-in-India manufacturing aerospace programme in the private sector.
